heirloom, well behaved and compact for an indeterminate variety, 6-8 oz. red fruit, thick walls, crack resistant, an excellent all-purpose variety. Developed in 1934 by Rutgers at one time this was the most popular tomato in the world, but then the need to stand up to mechanized handling became more important than taste. This remains the classic NJ tomato. Indeterminate, 75 days to maturity.
