Kirengeshoma palmata Yellow Waxbells

Description

The interesting thick-petaled yellow bell-like flowers of Kirengeshoma palmata appear on blackish stems in August and September, followed by weird three horned seed capsules .  Features large (8″) coarsely toothed, deeply lobed leaves resembling a Maple or Sycamore leaf.  Slow to get established, Yellow Waxbells needs a moist woodland. Kirengeshoma comes from Japan, where it is considered highly endangered in the wild.
