Gardeners Reaching Out Willingly
GROW (Gardeners Reaching Out Willingly) volunteers bring horticulture into the urban setting. Employing a blend of demonstration, education, and interactive involvement, GROW has forged partnerships with urban agencies to promote gardening for both adults and youth.

Among the activities on the GROW agenda has been:
-establishing gardens for Habitat for Humanity in Newark,
-landscaping and planting with children for Valley Settlement House in Orange,
-the design and installation of gardens at Sierra House (a shelter for young women). Sierra House has an annual gardening event open to the public where GROW demonstrates “hands on” gardening techniques, and
-the redesign of the perennial garden at the Newark Museum. Our volunteers completed Phase I, removal of invasives and weeds, of this ongoing project.
